ABOUT US
Foodprop was established in 1989 as a wholly owned subsidiary to the Foodworld Group which was the biggest independent retail chain in the Western Cape and consisted of 13 retail supermarkets and 4 wholesale outlets that was started by L.A Parker, I.S Abdurahman and I.A Parker in 1986.
Foodprop was created in order to build a property owning entity for sourcing new sites for its retail division and to build a diverse property portfolio to include the industrial and office sectors. The first property that it acquired and still owns was a small 5 tenanted retail property in a Suburb in the Cape Flats called Bishop Lavis where Foodworld was the anchor tenant at the time.
Over the years we have been growing our portfolio consistently through the acquisition of selected properties offering long-term sustainable growth prospects.
In 2001 the group acquired Suburban Cigarette Distributors which mainly focused on distributing Cigarettes and Tobacco to the independent retailers.
In 2005 the Foodworld Stores chain was sold to Shoprite Checkers and all the Foodworld outlets were rebranded as Shoprite outlets.
Today the group has four key focus areas which are Property Acquisitions, Property Management, Property Developments and still operates the Cigarette & Tobacco business.
